The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) will begin accepting submissions for CAAMFest 2019 starting Monday, August 27, 2018.
CAAMFest is the nation’s largest Asian and Asian American showcase for music, food, film, and digital media, presenting approximately 130 works at 92 public events in San Francisco and Oakland. Since 1982, the annual festival has been an important launching point for Asian American independent filmmakers as well as a vital source for new Asian cinema and artists. Previously celebrated in March, the festival moved to coincide with Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) in 2018 and align with the national broadcast works curated and produced by CAAM.
CAAMFest aspires to incite dialogue and community engagement, motivated by “the innovative ways Asian Americans are contributing to and shaping American identity and culture,” says Stephen Gong, Executive Director of CAAM. In doing so, CAAMFest also showcases music, food, and interactive workshops.
CAAMFest 2019 takes place May 9-19, 2019.
