CAAMFest 2016 Full Line-Up Announced

We invite you to CAAMFest 2016!

Tickets are on sale between today and Sunday, February 14, 2016 to CAAM members. Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Monday, February 15, 2016. Come closer and enjoy stories that unite.

On behalf of the staff and board of the Center for Asian American Media, greetings and welcome to CAAMFest 2016 from CAAM Executive Director Stephen Gong and Festival Director Masashi Niwano:

The festival’s core commitment is the discovery of new talent, new voices, new stories and new visions. At the same time, we honor the past, celebrating the lives of legendary artists like Tyrus Wong. Then, there is the added element of food and music — truly a feast for the mind and senses!

We are extremely proud to be presenting five films that have received CAAM Media Fund support. We give special thanks to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, whose support keeps our vital work in public media possible.

Finally, I would like to extend our thanks to our wonderful members, who are key to our work, and recognize our Presenting and Grand Sponsors — Comcast, AT&T DIRECTV, Western Union and the Asian Art Museum. These sponsors recognize the important role our festival plays in the cultural life of the San Francisco Bay Area, and we appreciate their thoughtful support.

HELLO AND WELCOME to CAAMFest 2016 — the nation’s premier event for Asian American film, music and food.
Thanks to the enduring support and spirit of the San Francisco Bay Area, we offer you 11 days of provocative programs, rare chances to meet media makers and fun, lively events.

In 2015, Asian Americans experienced a defining year at the forefront of media with successful shows like FRESH OFF THE BOAT and MASTER OF NONE breaking into the mainstream (MASTER OF NONE fans, check out page 29!). This year, we march forward into new neighborhoods— expanding outside of Japantown and Chinatown into the Mission District — and new types of programming.

We hope you will join us in celebrating a truly exciting time in Asian American storytelling.

See you at the festival!
