Today, December 1, CAAM is joining nonprofit organizations throughout the world for a global day of giving: #GivingTuesday.  Our goal is to raise $1,000 today to support CAAM’s core mission of bringing Asian American stories and experiences to light through the power of media. Gifts of any amount are appreciated and will support CAAM’s work to transform our diverse world with beautiful stories. If you haven’t already donated to CAAM’s campaign Connecting Community One Story at a Time, please consider donating online.

As an added incentive, the first eight people who donate $100 or more today will receive a copy of Chef Dale Talde’s highly anticipated new cookbook Asian-American: Proudly Inauthentic Recipes from the Philippines to BrooklynTalde was a favorite on Bravo TV’s Top Chef and owns the acclaimed Brooklyn restaurant Talde. Born in Chicago to Filipino parents, Dale Talde grew up both steeped in his family’s culinary heritage and infatuated with American fast food—burgers, chicken nuggets, and Hot Pockets. Today, his dual identity is etched on the menu at Talde, his always-packed Brooklyn restaurant. Now, in his first cookbook, Dale shares the recipes that have made him famous, all told in his inimitable voice. Some chefs cook food meant to transport you to Northern Thailand or Sichuan province, to Vietnam or Tokyo. Dale’s food is meant to remind you that you’re home.

Recently we had the honor of chatting with Chef Talde about his thoughts on the current and future state of Philippine fare. Visit our Off the Menu:Asian America website to learn what Chef Talde thinks about Philippine fare and get his recipe for Short Rib Kare-Kare.
