Events to Check Out at CAAMFest San Jose 2013

With all 11 incredible films we have the honor to screen at this year’s CAAMFest San Jose, you should know about a few of the events happening over the course of our three-day festival. Join us!

Friday August 16: After the screening of the first film of our line-up, “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?“, everyone is invited to attend the Opening Night Party over at the San Jose Museum of Art. Hors d’oevures will be served from some of the best restaurants in the South Bay.  This is also a good opportunity to check out their exhibit of Questions from the Sky: New Work by Hung Liu.  Tickets are $35 if you attend both the film and the movie.  Be sure to buy yours here.

Saturday August 18, 6:30pm: Not only will we be screening the Taiwanese documentary “Go Grandriders,” but there is a reception honoring 10 of the Grandriders, who will be flying in from Taiwan to  ride down the California coast to Los Angeles on their motorcycles.  CAAMFest is their starting point, so be there to send them off!  Tickets are going fast for the screening and the after party. Saturday August 18, 9pm, 21+, FREE: Join us for the CAAMFest San Jose After Party, co-hosted by Taiwanese American Professionals and Gay Asian Pacific Alliance at Cinebar, 69 East San Fernando Street (btwn South 2nd Street & South 3rd Street) located less than two blocks from Camera 3 Theaters. Mingle with CAAMFest San Jose mediamakers, artists, CAAM staff and fellow attendees. Invite your friends on Facebook!

Sunday August 19, 1pm, (Free with museum admission, non-members $5): If you missed “Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings” at CAAMFest or when it aired on PBS….  well guess what?  We’re bringing it to San Jose!  On Sunday, go to the Japanese American Museum of San Jose to catch this documentary about an incredible musician and his journey with the almighty ukelele. Check it out!
