On Thursday, November 14, CAAM held a reception at the beautiful Monarch Theater Restaurant in New York to celebrate the CAAM Fellowship Program. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres were created by Chef Richard Kuo and the event was hosted by Gwen Nguyen & James Bao, CAAM Board Member. The Fellowship Program is funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the retreat is supported by a generous donation from Claudine Cheng.
CAAM celebrated the culmination of the Fellowship Program with filmmakers, friends and partner organizations who came out to meet and mingle with the mentors and fellows at the Monarch Theater Restaurant, a beautiful Asian fusion eatery in Williamsburg. Board member Naja Pham Lockwood came out to support the program as well.
CAAM’s Talent Development and Special Projects Manager Sapana Sakya and Events Production Manager Krystal Fernandes attended the event and spoke to guests about CAAM’s programs including our upcoming 40th anniversary events in 2020.
The fellows: Pulkit Datta, Vicky Du, Emily Hong and Anuraddha Rana as well as some of the mentors: Jean Tsien, Monika Navarro and Mridu Chandra were in attendance and enjoyed the festivities before they traveled to Southampton for the weekend to a final Fellowship Retreat. They were then joined by two more mentors Karin Chien and Leo Chiang. Several Mentors had traveled from across the country and the world to convene at the retreat.
The Retreat gave the 2019 fellows and mentors an opportunity to spend dedicated time with each fellow and their projects as well as a rare chance to discuss the fellows’ careers with all the mentors and their fellow fellows.
CAAM is thrilled to have partnered with A-Doc to support our community of makers both emerging and experienced through the Fellowship Program and look forward to the next cohort in 2020.
