CAAMFest36 is proud to announce an exclusive on-stage conversation with CRAZY RICH ASIANS Director Jon M. Chu on Sunday, May 13 in Japantown.

CRAZY RICH ALERT! CAAMFest36 is proud to announce an exclusive on-stage conversation with CRAZY RICH ASIANS Director Jon M. Chu on Sunday, May 13th at Hotel Kabuki. Learn the behind-the-scenes stories about this summer’s star-studded blockbuster.

Based on Kevin Kwan’s best-selling 2013 novel, CRAZY RICH ASIANS is a contemporary romantic comedy that follows Rachel Chu (Constance Wu), a New York native, as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. There she discovers that Nick’s neglected to mention a few key details about his life. Not only is he the scion of one of the country’s wealthiest families, but also one of its most sought-after bachelors. Being on Nick’s arm puts a target on Rachel’s back, with both jealous socialites and worse, Nick’s own disapproving mother (Michelle Yeoh) taking aim. It soon becomes clear that while money can’t buy love, it can definitely complicate things.

The first major Hollywood studio film in 25 years to feature an all-Asian cast, this all-star production marks a milestone for Asian American talent in front of and behind of the camera, including Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, and Michelle Yeoh.

This talk will be moderated by Thuy Tran (Programmer, Jewish Community Center of SF) with exclusive behind-the-scenes clips.
