Congratulations to Bao Phi and Thi Bui on receiving a Caldecott Medal for their children’s book, A Different Pond (Capstone). Phi is the writer of the children’s book and Bui is the illustrator. Phi is an award-winning poet based out of Minneapolis, MN, and Bui is the author and illustrator of The Best We Could Do and is based out of Berkeley, CA.
Bui was a featured panelist on Inside the Mind of a Creator: Sharing History and Culture Through Children’s Books and Graphic Novels at CAAMFest 2017, where she shared free advance readers copies of A Different Pond with attendees.
The Caldecott Medal Honor is one of the American Library Association’s Youth Media Awards.
