A Day in the Life of Asian Pacific America

Our good friend Eddie Wong (former Executive Director of the National Asian American Telecommunications Association/Center for Asian American Media) is the guest curator for “A Day in the Life of Asian Pacific America,” a collaborative photo and video project that’s a part of the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center.

“We invite people far and wide to capture snapshots of their experiences as Asian Pacific Americans on May 10, 2014 – wherever you are, whatever you’re doing. From immigrants to hometown legends, global citizens to refugees, fringe artists to medical practitioners – through our lenses we can illustrate the vast array of experiences throughout the world that make up today’s Asian Pacific America.”

This is a participatory project open to all who want to capture the daily, nuanced lives of Asian Pacific America on May 10, 2014 during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Smithsonian will present an exhibition of photos and videos selected by curators. All submissions will also be available on the Flickr group for viewing, and others are encouraged to curate exhibits on their own. To find out more information, go here. Please go to smithsonianapa.org/life2014 to sign up for the project and join the Flickr group by May 1. Update: you can also submit via Instagram using the tag #LifeAPA. There are also photography workshops now through May 8 in various locations (see list below).
