Soman Chainani’s “The School for Good and Evil” Gets Movie Deal

We’re thrilled for Soman Chainani’s new book “The School for Good and Evil“. It debuted this week at #7 on the New York Times Best Sellers List for Middle Schoolers and was just signed to a seven figure deal with Universal Pictures!

We’re proud to have known Soman as a 2011 alum of the CAAM Fellowship program, which nurtures a community of makers and professional mentors from within the Asian American media microcosm. His mentor was filmmaker & writer Jessica Yu, whose family including husband author Mark Salzman, reviewed his drafts. This past March, Soman was at CAAMFest (read his blog) to present a special interactive preview of his new book to attendees.

R.L. Stine, the author of Goosebumps had this to say:

“Wow. From the first sentence, you know you’re entering a thrilling world… A wild and dangerous fairy tale ride. I loved this book.”

In celebration of the amazing news, we are giving away five copies of “The School for Good and Evil”. Just e-mail your full name and if you’re good or evil mkwan[at]
