Finishing up the San Jose leg of SFIAAFF30 on Sunday March 18 is MR. CAO GOES TO WASHINGTON, whose screenings have been a success in San Francisco and Berkeley. Directed by S. Leo Chiang (A Village Called Versailles) and produced by CAAM’s very own Stephen Gong, MR. CAO follows the campaign trail of Congressman Joseph Cao who is running for reelection in the New Orleans district. This documentary offers a glimpse into the racial and partisan politics faced by Mr. Cao as a minority Republican candidate in a largely Democratic constituency. Mostly it’s about a man who only wants to do the right thing for his country.
Representative Joseph Cao and his family will be IN ATTENDANCE (they’re flying in from Louisiana for this screening alone), so don’t miss your opportunity to meet the country’s first Vietnamese-American member of Congress!
