MATCHA at the Asian Art Museum: The Shanghai Dress

It's that time again. This month's MATCHA at the Asian Art Museum features the work of designer Jane Zhu.

Inspired by the stylish, sophisticated form-fitting qipao dress that emerged in 1920s Shanghai, this MATCHA showcases the work of designer Jane Zhu. She has studied the art of qipao patternmaking and construction from master tailors, and is celebrated for her modern, made-to-order qipao. Zhu has been featured in Vogue, Elle China, and more. She’ll share her designs in a fashion show and give a talk on the history and craftsmanship of these iconic dresses.

Also: make your own traditional Chinese button or design a ready-to-wear pinback button, engage a docent in Shanghai, hang out with friends over cocktails, and enjoy music spun by the energizing DJ Quantum! Participate in a free raffle drawing for prizes such as Lonely Planet books and a Namu restaurant gift certificate.

MATCHA guests are highly encouraged to don their own qipao for their evening!
