SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Eligibility
The San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival accepts films and videos that are made by or about Asian Americans and Asians of any nationality. All lengths and genres will be considered.
Deadlines
Your signed entry form, entry fee, screener and press kit must be postmarked by one of these two dates:
* Early Deadline – Sept 2, 2011
* Late Deadline – Sept 30, 2011
* Withoutabox.com Extended deadline –Oct 7, 2011
Exhibition Formats
Eligible formats for exhibition at the SFIAAFF are: 35mm, Digital Betacam, and Betacam SP video (NTSC only). No PAL tapes will be accepted. HDCAM available for feature-length presentations on a case-by-case basis.

Entry Fees
Please enclose a check or money order for $25 (for Early Deadline, postmarked by Sept 2, 2011); $35 (for Late Deadline, postmarked by Sept 30, 2011); and $40 (for Withoutabox Extended Deadline, postmarked by Oct 7, 2011). CAAM members at the senior / student level receive one entry fee waiver per person. Checks and money orders must be issued through a US banking institution. Make checks payable to Center for Asian American Media. Payment can be made with a credit card by filling out card information on the entry form.
Submission Materials
Acceptable format for preview is DVD (NTSC, Region 0 or 1 only). You may upload your film online via Withoutabox.com for an additional fee.
Please include a press kit with your entry, including:
* Still images (hard photos and/or high-resolution electronic images of at least 300dpi on a CD). Please provide captions for all images.
* Synopsis
* Director’s biography
* Director’s filmography
* Director’s statement
* Cast and crew listing
(If your feature-length film is selected for exhibition, the festival will also request the following items to maximize exposure for your film: posters, director’s photo, video clips.)
To be notified that your entry has been received, please include a self-addressed and stamped postcard. To have your preview tape returned after the festival, please include a self-addressed and stamped envelope with the appropriate postage. Preview copies of films selected for the SFIAAFF will be deposited into CAAM’s internal film library with the filmmaker’s permission.
Shipping
If selected, exhibition prints or tapes must be sent to the festival prepaid to arrive by Feb 1, 2012. Return or forward shipping will be covered by the festival.
Rental Fees
The Festival does not pay film rental fees. We choose instead to invest our resources in producing the best possible showcase for your work and promoting your work as widely as possible.
Selection Notification
You will be notified of festival selections by late January 2012.
