CAAM & AAJA Call for Film Projects

Calling all visual journalists and filmmakers! The Asian American Journalists Association and the Center for Asian American Media are partnering up to highlight projects by talented AAPI storytellers at AAJA’s annual convention in San Francisco. AAJA members and convention attendees are encouraged to submit their latest narrative, documentary and/or film projects to present at the Landmark Embarcadero Theater on Wednesday, August 12, 2015.

A selection committee will choose up to three films, and each person or team will have 10 minutes to talk and show a short clip of their work.

Feature AAJA member presentations will be followed by a by a special screening and Q&A with award-winning documentary filmmaker Grace Lee’s newest film, Off the Menu: Asian America, about Asian Americans and food. The project is a co-production of CAAM and KQED with funding from CPB, and will air on PBS in December 2015.

The deadline to apply is midnight PST on Monday, July 20th, 2015. Winners will be announced on July 27th.

Applicants must be an AAJA member and be able to attend the screening on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 8:30 -10:30 pm at the Landmark Embarcadero Theater in SF (two blocks away from the convention hotel). The event is free for all AAJA convention attendees.
