Evelyn Obamos welcomes the crowd at a Filipino American filmmaker gathering at CAAMFest 2018.
Highlighting Filipino American filmmakers at CAAMFest 2018!

This past May, CAAMFest had a historic number of Filipino American filmmakers and other creatives at our festival in May. Co-sponsored by SOMA Pilipinas, UNDSCVRD, SOMA StrEat Food, and Filipino Americans in Silicon Valley and Tech – FASTER (Salesforce Filipino Ohana, Pinterest Pilipinos, Filipino Googlers Network), we got together and celebrated these makers. Check out the recap video below, produced by USF Kasamahan talents, Megan Ramones and Abby Asuncion!

This month is Filipino American History Month, and these filmmakers, from CAAMFest veteran filmmakers H.P. Mendoza (Bitter Melon/CAAMFest 2018 and Spotlight alumnus) and first-time CAAMFest maker Evelyn Obamos (Nothing on Us: Pinays Rising Behind the Scenes/CAAMFest 2018), who was one of the organizers of this event, are making histories themselves. We are thrilled to highlight their work and their leadership in the filmmaking community.
