Due to high demand, the world premiere of MRS. JUDO: BE STRONG, BE GENTLE, BE BEAUTIFUL will now be playing at the Castro Theatre on Sunday 3/11. You may be thinking to yourselves: what’s all the fuss about?

Maybe because it’s about Keiko Fukuda, the oldest practitioner of judo at 98 years old and is also the only highest-ranking woman at 10th dan. Directed by San Francisco-based Yuriko Gamo Romer, this documentary illustrates Fukuda’s incredible journey in this male-dominated sport and how she dedicated her life to judo instead of the well-traveled path of being a homemaker. It is a story of one woman’s struggle against a sport’s long history of sexism.

As an added bonus, Fukuda will make an appearance after the screening so come see her and MRS. JUDO: BE STRONG, BE GENTLE, BE BEAUTIFUL make its world premiere at the Castro Theatre on Sunday 3/11. Buy your tickets before it’s sold out!
