CAAM Co-presentation: WE ARE ONE ISLAND Japan Relief Concert

We Are One Island, an evening of honoring, remembrance and hope, featuring Kara Tsuboi, Marina Fukushima, Purple Moon Dance Project, Dirty Boots, and more.

An evening of honoring, remembrance and hope, We Are One Island will be emcee’d by Kara Tsuboi (Oakland A’s), beginning with a traditional ceremony led by the Buddhist Church of Oakland, followed by a video slideshow of local damage of critical areas. Offerings from the stage include performances by Marina Fukushima (Kunst-Stoff), Purple Moon Dance Project, Shirley Muramoto and Brian Wong, Michael Sasaki, Maze Daiko, RyuQ Murasaki Daiko, Asian Crisis, Sushi Cal Band, Dirty Boots, and Hip-Hop/Spoken Word artist, Colin “Senbei” Ehara. A silent auction will feature selected, original works by many well-known folks from the API arts community.

Presented by One Island Productions and Oakland Asian Cultural Center, sponsors include Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center (APICC), Apex Express/KPFA 94.1 FM, JCCCNC, Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), Crosswater Media, East Bay Express, Flytrap Studios, GamaGo, Hello!Lucky, Hyphen Magazine, Kearny Street Workshop (KSW), Lumina Arts, Oakland A’s, Oaklandish, Ozumo, Pro Arts, Rhythmix Cultural Center, and Yoshi’s Oakland.
