2010 marks the 30th anniversary of the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), the presenter of the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival.

Founded in 1980 by a group of producers, filmmakers, and community activists who shared a passion for the medium and a commitment to address the absence of authentic Asian American images in film and television, CAAM is the nation’s leading Asian American media arts organization. In addition to presenting the annual SFIAAFF, it is a significant funder and producer of new documentary and narrative films and videos, holds a distribution collection of over 250 film and video titles, presents Asian American films on public television, and produces innovative interactive, new media content.
CAAM will kick off its 30th year with a series of activities which will not only assess our celebrated history, but also showcase our dynamic slate of new projects for 2010.

CAAM will host a 30th Anniversary Gala event, present highlights of CAAM-funded works at the Festival and host a “30 seconds in 30 years” video contest.
