Come and celebrate KAYA's first birthday and kick-off another eventful year. Join us for a keynote from our evening's honoree Congressman Mike Honda. San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris will also be attending.

Remember it was just a year ago when we got together at Zebulon in SF to launch Filipinos for Obama? Your overwhelming support catapulted our leadership team and volunteers to a new level of outreach and we grew into an unprecedented movement within our own community.

Join us for a keynote from our evening’s honoree Congressman Mike Honda. San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris will also be attending.

6:00 pm – 7:30 pm: View a moving exhibit by documentary photographer Rick Rocamora on activism in the Filipino American community. You will also have the opportunity to purchase copies of his new book Filipino WW II Soldiers: America’s Second-Class Veterans” featuring black and white images of Filipino WW II veterans illustrating their poignant story of pain, persistence and hope.

6:00 pm – 7:30 pm: Manilatown Heritage Foundation will also be showcasing an exhibit on activism in the Filipino American community and providing an opportunity to purchase tickets to upcoming event in October.

Participate in a simple yet impactful way of supporting health care in your community. Help save lives by joining by the bone marrow transplant registry. More minorities, especially Asian Americans are in needed to diversify the registry to provide a greater chance of survival to the thousands of adults and children in need of a bone marrow transplant. Joining the registry is a simple and painless process, no needles, no blood, just the simple swabbing of the inner cheek a few times, and filling out some forms. Stop by the booth at the KAYA party.
