The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) is a national, mission driven organization dedicated to presenting stories that convey the richness and diversity of Asian American experiences to the broadest audience possible. CAAM is the premier provider of Asian American content — funding, producing, distributing, and exhibiting works in film, television, and digital media.

CAAM is seeking a talented Strategic Partnerships Manager with strong fundraising experience, including sponsorship solicitation and the ability to develop and nurture relationships with corporations, grantmaking agencies, individuals, and in-kind donors. The ideal candidate is passionate about Asian American media with a proven track record of initiating and sustaining corporate relations, sponsorships, and philanthropic partnerships.

The position requires strong organizational and networking skills, the ability to work on various projects and events simultaneously, and a strong eye for detail.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate (with management team) year-round sponsorship and marketing opportunities that bring the most benefit and visibility to CAAM and expand our network and impact
  • In partnership with the Executive Director and Director of Development, develop and implement a broad annual fundraising strategy
  • Work with Director of Development and program directors to identify, research, and solicit potential corporate sponsorship and individual giving opportunities for restricted online, public television, festival, film exhibition, and other programs and special projects
  • Maintain a portfolio of corporations, grantmaking agencies, individuals, and in-kind donors with the capacity to give below $25,000
  • Prepare proposals and negotiate sponsorship arrangements
  • Research, solicit, and correspond with in-kind donors, and coordinate delivery of in-kind donations
  • Obtain written contracts and implement all sponsor and donor benefits, including logo recognition and advertising in print, online, event, in-theater, and media materials
  • Manage delivery of all sponsor and donor-related hospitality, including tickets, passes, invitations, and special theater seating requirements
  • Manage placement of sponsor and donor materials and products
  • Develop sponsorship and event-related collateral and copy
  • Coordinate and ensure post-event sponsor and partner acknowledgment and stewardship
  • Work with partners and staff to gather and synthesize audience/demographic, marketing, and other related data and statistics for sponsorship and other development materials
  • Collaborate with Membership Manager on the implementation of a Circle program for major donors
  • Manage community relations, as assigned
  • Assist with the design of a series of high special events such as galas, fundraisers, and receptions
  • Supervise development interns and seasonal sponsorship staff as necessary
  • Develop and maintain accurate sponsorship database and files
  • Other development duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Excellent management, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent fundraising skills with minimum of 3 years of experience and demonstrated success
  • Progressive fundraising experience, employing a wide array of strategies to support a diverse suite of programs (event fundraising, corporate and community sponsorships and individual donors)
  • Strong organizational and writing skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task under multiple deadlines
  • Able to exercise good judgment, work independently and maintain confidentiality of donor information
  • Ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with funders and partner organizations
  • Capacity to take initiative and to work effectively cross-departmentally
  • Ability to work with diverse constituents
  • Professionalism, can-do attitude and ability to work well with others
  • Computer savvy and fluency in a Mac OS platform and a variety of programs such as MS Office Suite, Filemaker Pro, DonorPerfect, and other CRM software. Supervisorial experience preferred.
  • Adobe Creative Suite and CMS experience a plus

SPONSORSHIP MANAGER

POSITION: Sponsorship Manager (Seasonal)

CAAM is seeking a talented Sponsorship Manager with strong fundraising experience, including sponsorship solicitation and the ability to develop and nurture relationships with corporations and in-kind donors. The Sponsorship Manager works with the Director of Development to secure corporate sponsorships for CAAMFest, CAAM’s annual film festival. The position will manage the delivery of corporate sponsor benefits, major in-kind sponsorships, and all corporate sponsor-related activities. The Sponsorship Manager will work closely with CAAM and seasonal CAAMFest staff to maximize corporate support.

DEVELOPMENT INTERN

POSITIONS: Development Intern (or volunteer) – Sponsorship & Special Events (multiple positions available)

DURATION: March – June 30, 2020 preferred, with option to extend if desired

TIME COMMITMENT: 15 – 20 hours per week (minimum of 15 hours/week preferred; may be asked to work some weekends and evenings)

COMPENSATION: Unpaid, college credit may be available

DESCRIPTION:

The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) is a national organization dedicated to presenting stories that convey the richness and diversity of Asian American experiences to the broadest audience possible.

CAAM seeks skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to assist with the planning and production of CAAMFest 2020 (formerly the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival), which takes place May 14-24, 2020. The internship consists of project-oriented tasks such as event planning, sponsor relations, database management, and clerical work. These are part-time and unpaid positions. Scheduling is flexible. The internship is best suited for someone who wants to gain skills in the arenas of event production, donor management, and non-profit arts administration, with a sincere interest in Asian American and Asian media arts.

The intern will be introduced to Asian American history and the world of public and independent media at one of the most prestigious Asian American media arts organizations in the country. Interns will be exposed to skills and knowledge in the areas of fundraising, donor development and event planning in a professional non-profit setting. As part of the team that produces CAAM’s major events, the interns will also have the opportunity to network with CAAM’s larger family of film and media makers, industry professionals and community organizations.

You may be asked to help with the following:

  • Assist the Development team with researching and contracting in-kind Festival Sponsors
  • Help maintain donor and operations databases as it relates to CAAMFest Sponsorship
  • Assist the Development team with Sponsor benefits fulfillment
  • Help with on-site donor management and logistical support for Festival events and fundraisers
  • Assist with Sponsor communications, such as writing copy, designing email templates, and creating Festival wrap reports
  • Help with general administrative support including database entry, generating reports, filing and inventory
  • Participate in a variety of Festival events, from private receptions to public Galas

FESTIVAL INTERN

POSITION: Festival Internship

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Winter/Spring 2019

TIME COMMITMENT: 10 – 15 hours per week, 3-4 months; May be asked to work some weekends in the weeks leading up to and during CAAMFest 2020

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Center for Asian American Media seeks skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to assist with the planning and production of CAAMFest 2020 (formerly the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival), which takes place March 14-24, 2020. The internship consists of project-oriented tasks such as event planning, marketing & public relations, database management, outreach, and clerical and archival work. These are part-time and unpaid volunteer positions.  Possible school credit where applicable. Scheduling is flexible. The internship is best suited for someone who wants to gain skills in the arenas of film programming, event planning, data management, and non-profit arts administration, with a sincere interest in Asian American and Asian media arts. 

PROJECTS

Internship projects include but are not limited to:

  • Help design marketing materials such as slide shows and event signage
  • Assisting in event, membership, and sponsor relations activities
  • Focus film research to develop retrospective and specialized programming
  • Maintaining Festival archives and databases
  • Developing articles and blogs for Festival website
  • Outreach to domestic and international film schools.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Detail-oriented and team player
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and research skills
Familiarity with Mac-based programs including Filemaker Pro, Excel and Word
Web/Internet savvy: advance searching, social networking skills
Works well independently in a small office environment as well as in public arenas
Desire to learn about media arts organizing
Knowledge or interest in Asian American independent media preferred
Experience with graphic/design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or editing programs (Final Cut Pro, Premiere) a plus

MARKETING ASSISTANT

POSITION: Marketing Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Marketing Assistant is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the marketing and digital media strategies for CAAMFest. This includes social media, community outreach, distribution of print materials, managing photographers, and providing general support to the Marketing team. In coordination with festival and development departments, the Marketing Assistant will work with Digital Media, Marketing Manager, and Content Manager to execute marketing plan.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Develop and implement advertising strategies for co-presenters including media assets and copy for their use in their newsletters, social media, etc
  • Maintain current database of community co-presenters
  • Research, solicit and confirm community co-presenters for all programs at the Festival
  • Work with Marketing Manager and Content Manager to implement on-line and viral marketing strategies
  • Plan and schedule social media posts via Sprout social media platform across the Festivals channels
  • In conjunction with the volunteer coordinator, schedule volunteers to distribute promotional flyers for Festival programs to organizations, schools, and businesses
  • Ensure that festival information on website is up-to-date and accurate
  • Bring on photographers, coordinate with them, and create shot lists for them during Festival.
  • Set signage schedule for theaters (Film posters, CAAM Posters, Marquee, Calendars)
  • Coordinated movement of step & repeat during festival (Schedule, movement, transportation)
  • Support Marketing team as needed

GUEST SERVICES & TRAVEL COORDINATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Guest Services and Travel Coordinator will be responsible for the efficient orchestration of all aspects of hospitality for local, national and international guests attending CAAMFest (formerly the San Francisco Asian American Film Festival), taking place May 14–24, 2020.  The Coordinator will make travel and accommodation arrangements for guests of the Festival.  The Coordinator should be detail oriented and have excellent organizational and communication skills.  Position requires flexibility and hospitality experience.  The Coordinator will also act as “host” to Festival guests and staff a Guest Services Lounge.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Design a plan for Festival guests’ experience – ensure that it’s engaging and welcoming
  • Manage accreditation process and dispersal of complimentary tickets and passes
  • Develop and prepare guest welcome packets and Festival identification badges
  • Manage Guest Services volunteers and Festival drivers
  • Liaison between Festival guests and operations and programs staff
  • Schedule and confirm festival guests via phone, fax, and email
  • Arrange and book air and ground transportation of festival guests to San Francisco
  • Arrange local travel for guests (getting to and from hotel to film screenings and airports) 
  • Manage travel & accommodations budget
  • Produce itineraries on guest arrival, departure, lodging, events, press interviews, etc.
  • Ensure that communications, publicity, and marketing staff are aware of confirmed guests list for greater festival promotion efforts

PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Public Relations Coordinator, under the direction of the Festival Director, will be in charge of all day-to-day administrative publicity activities for CAAMFest (formerly the San Francisco Asian American Film Festival), taking place May 14–24, 2020. The PR Coordinator will liaise with CAAM’s development and communications staff and the festival’s external public relations agency to ensure consistent and on target messaging. Primary duties include managing press materials such as video screeners, press kits, still images and press clippings, as well as providing the press with all necessary materials. In addition, the coordinator will help build CAAM’s relationship with print, TV and online outlets that cover ethnic communities and the arts.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Coordinate all areas of public relations including press conferences, interviews for appropriate spokespeople and liaising with external and internal constituencies
  • Maintain and manage a screeners library for the press
  • Assemble festival press kit
  • Collect and distribute press materials for each film
  • Write press releases and listings as needed
  • Manage all press check-ins, inquiries and complimentary ticket distribution
  • Submit periodic press reports to PR agency
  • Create clippings binder
  • Assign responsibilities to interns as needed

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in public relations
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
