Memories to Light: Intern with CAAM!

POSITION: Memories to Light Intern
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: End of fall semester/quarter.
TIME COMMITMENT: 15 – 20 hours per week
SALARY: Unpaid; College credits may be available

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) seeks a motivated and outgoing individual to be part of one of CAAM’s latest innovative projects: Memories to Light. The ideal candidate is passionate about the Asian American community, filmmaking, and interested in film preservation

Memories to Light is a project to collect and digitize 8mm, super 8, and 16mm home movies and to share them – and the stories they tell — to a broad public.

The candidate will finish the internship having gained skills and knowledge in the areas of editing, filmmaking, blog writing, and proper techniques in film scanning.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
• Edit together a film(s) using unedited home movie footage under supervisor’s direction.
• Write and edit blog posts related to the Memories to Light project.
• Intern will have an opportunity to learn how to properly inspect, prepare, and digitize home movies from 8mm, super 8, 16mm gauge films using our on site film scanner.

The Memories to Light Intern should have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, and possess adaptability, initiative and follow-through. The ideal candidate works well independently as well as in a team setting.

Fluency with Mac computers and MS Office software is required. Experience with Final Cut Pro and WordPress a plus.
