CAAMFest 2015 is baacck!
With CAAMFest a month away, here’s a little taste of what you can expect this year.
Following the success of its inaugural year, CAAM is thrilled to announce the second annual CAAMFeast Awards: Stories, Food and You, a culinary awards ceremony and intimate cocktail reception, that will take place on Saturday, March 7 at the One Kearny Club in San Francisco. Co-presented by One Kearny Club, this year’s CAAMFeast Awards will honor the Masumoto Family (Masumoto Farms), media entrepreneur Danielle Chang (LUCKYRICE) and local rising-star chef Tim Luym (Attic Restaurant). This special night will join culinary experts with contemporary filmmakers to share a collection of stories and show their support for the Center for Asian American Media.
CAAMFest 2015’s Centerpiece presentation brings Shonali Bose’s MARGARITA, WITH A STRAW to the CAAMFest audience. Her deeply personal film dazzles with moments of careful reflection and emotional struggle as she tells the compelling and inspiring story of Laila (Kalki Koechlin), a young woman with cerebral palsy who dreams of becoming a writer. A NYU transplant from India’s Delhi University, Laila’s journey begins when she falls for a fiery female activist who tests her creative and personal boundaries.
Preceding the screening, CAAM will host a Centerpiece reception where guests will have the chance to meet Bose and enjoy handcrafted Remy Martin cocktails at the historic Castro Theatre.
