“Outlawed in Pakistan” Wins Emmy

The documentary tells the story about a teenage girl in Pakistan whose life is at risk for daring to allege rape.

Outlawed in Pakistan, the story of a teenage girl in Pakistan whose life is at risk for daring to allege rape, won an Emmy award for Outstanding Research at the 35th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards this week.

The film was funded by the Center for Asian American Media through our Documentary Fund Awards.

The film aired on Frontline, a PBS series known for its in-depth reporting and storytelling. Frontline also won three other Emmy Awards this year.

Outlawed in Pakistan is available to view online. The film is written, produced and directed by Habiba Nosheen and Hilke Schellmann.
