SFIAAFF ’11 Films Eligible for Gotham Independent Film Audience Award

The Gotham Independent Film Audience Award celebrates audience award winners from across the Top 50 US and Canadian film festivals. SFIAAFF 2011 audience award winners SURROGATE VALENTINE (Best Narrative Feature) and ONE VOICE (Best Documentary Feature) are currently included in the first round of voting for the Gotham Independent Film Audience Award.

Spotlight on: Kyle Chu, Mr. Hyphen 2010

Kyle Chu, former CAAM intern, musician, filmmaker, and aspiring teacher, blogs about his experience as Mr. Hyphen 2010, the importance of celebrating community engagement, and how truck tons of glitter helped him win the competition. Kyle will be passing his crown to Mr. Hyphen 2011, on November 5th at the Brava Theater. Tickets are still available!

CAAM co-presents MATCHA: New Indian Cuisine

The Asian Art Museum continues its MATCHA series with the theme of New Indian Cuisine on Thursday, 10/27! Top Chef Master Floyd Cardoz demonstrates and discusses modern Indian cuisine. Sample bites, see the brand new Maharaja exhibition, catch DJ Janaka Selekta, enjoy docent tours, make your own chai tea mix, and sip cocktails from the cash bar.

CAAM co-presents: ONCE UPON A ROOFTOP at UNAFF2011

We are delighted to be a part of the 14th UNAFF (United Nations Association Film Festival), which celebrates the power of documentary films dealing with global and social change. This year, CAAM co-presents ONCE UPON A ROOFTOP on Friday 10/21, which is a visual portrait of the families and individuals who live on the rooftops of mid-rises in Hong Kong.
