Filmmaker Yuriko Romer took time out from her busy production schedule to chat with CAAM about her film "Be Strong, Be Gentle, Be Beautiful" about 98-year old Judo master Keiko Fukuda.

Filmmaker Yuriko Romer took time out from her busy production schedule to chat with CAAM about her film “Be Strong, Be Gentle, Be Beautiful” about 98-year old Judo master Keiko Fukuda. Romer has been working on her film for four years now and been going through the process of trying to raise the funds to complete her film. Recently, her subject, Fukuda became the first woman in history to win the 10 Degree Black Belt in Judo and suddenly received lots of media attention. Romer started getting calls from all kinds of media to use parts of her film for news pieces about Fukuda’s recent historic award. Take a look at what Romer had to say about her experience and about the state of fundraising for independent film.
