Karin Chien wins Independent Spirit Award!
Producer Karin Chien, who will lead a workshop at the upcoming SFIAAFF and sit on its Narrative Jury, is the winner of the PIAGET PRODUCERS AWARD at this year’s Independent Spirits Award!
Chien is the producer of many films which have been presented at the SFIAAFF, including: Robot Stories (Greg Pak), Santa Mesa (Ron Morales), The Motel (Michael Kang).
On Saturday, March 13, 1pm at the Viz Cinema, Chien will lead an intimate workshop called: Up Close and Personal With the Asian American Industry. In this session, Chien, along with acclaimed editor and documentary filmmaker Ruby Yang, and actress Tamlyn Tomita, will guide participants through the many challenges and opportunities in producing a film.
