POSITIONS: Development Interns
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: November 15, 2014 – April 30, 2015
TIME COMMITMENT: 15 – 20 hours per week; May be asked to work some weekends in the weeks leading up and during CAAMFest
SALARY: Unpaid; college credit may be available

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) seeks motivated and outgoing individuals who are passionate about the Asian American community and media arts to join the CAAM development and communications team. Our Development and Communications department manages all corporate sponsor, partner and member benefits and activities for CAAM and its annual CAAMFest (formerly San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival). CAAMFest is the premier festival in North America dedicated to presenting the best in Asian American films, music and food programming.

The interns will be introduced to Asian American history and the world of public and independent media at one of the most prestigious Asian American media arts organization in the country. The candidates will finish the internship having gained skills and knowledge in the areas of marketing, event planning and fundraising in the non-profit field. As part of the team that produces CAAMFest, the interns will also have the opportunity to network with CAAM’s larger family of film and media makers, industry professionals and community organizations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Works with the Development Team to implement sponsor, partner and member benefits
  • Learns to create signage and sponsor on-screen slideshow as well as resizing sponsor and partner logos for the Festival website
  • Assists in the delivery of incoming sponsor and partner materials including corporate sponsorship guide, sponsor banners, giveaway items and donated goods
  • On-site logistical support at special events during the Festival
  • Assists in post-Festival wrap-up reporting
  • General administrative support including filing, database entry and mailings
  • Participates in meetings about Festival updates and other sponsorship issues
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    The Development Intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, and possess adaptability, initiative and superior problem-solving skills and follow-through. The ideal candidate works well independently as well as in a team setting.

    Fluency with Mac computers and MS Office software is required. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Filemaker Pro a plus.
